Allegations of Pakistan’s Ball Tampering Resurface

The ICC Champions Trophy semi finals in South Africa may be over but one war isn’t over yet as Pakistan face allegations of ball tampering once again.
New Zealand raised the allegations after their encounter with Pakistan in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 in England and therefore, struck a cautious note ahead of their semi final clash.
But even before that, unconfirmed stories emerged about Australia suspecting Pakistan of doing the same and Umar Gul has once again come under cynosure. While the allegations were dismissed in the other ICC tournament, no official complaints have been lodged yet against Pakistan, perhaps out of fear of a backlash.
That the matter needs to be put to rest would be an understatement. For the moment, it would only be akin to rubbing salt into the wounds for Younis Khan’s men.
