Mohammad Asif’s ex-girlfriend with whom he is locked in a bitter money battle has blamed him for the match fixing, claims Asif was a key figure in Pakistan’s present cricket shambles.
Veena Mallik, who previously alleged that the Pakistan fast bowler owned her money she had lent him, now makes sensational claims that Asif was involved in match fixing even before the Pakistan tour of Australia where he supposedly met with bookies in Bangkok. She also states that Asif was able to influence the young Mohammad Aamer into following in his footsteps.
But she does not stop there. She claims to have evidence to prove that Asif is a serial match fixer and that he was also involved in bribing people in order to let him go lightly after he was caught with drugs.
Mallik even goes onto allege that one Dheeraj Dixit, a freelance photographer, who claims to have caught Mazhar Majeed exchanging money via a jacket to young Pakistan cricketers, Wahab Riaz and Umar Amin on his Blackberry, has met them when they were a couple and he was a conduit himself, which he latter has firmly come out and denied.
Whether Mallik is being vindictive or whether what she has to say holds a pinch of truth will remain to be seen if it is investigated.
