Following the recent strong comments of Dave Richardson on Indian umpires, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has determined to bring improvement in the performance of the umpires. It has assigned to three former test umpires to assist improve the standard of its officials.
BCCI now plans to take every possible step for the improvement of Indian umpires so that they can get their berths in ICC elite panel. BCCI has decided to scarp the quota of thirteen top domestic umpires. Now they will have to prove their skill in matches and appear in the fresh written tests.
Niranjan Shah, BCCI secretary said,
Our umpires committee met and we’ve taken very positive steps to encourage more cricketer-turned-umpires .
Former South African cricketer Dave Richardson insisted that the BCCI should focus on umpire’s performance.
