Chidambaram Says India Undeterred Despite Terror Threats

The HuJI’s chief’s warning will be considered as a serious security threat. But it will not stop India or the sporting events in their tracks, so seems the Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, to suggest.

“Ilyas Kashmiri (the Al Qaeda commander) cannot dictate our course of action. We cannot be deterred and we are not deterred by what he says,” stated the Home Minister and continued to pledge his support towards ensuring the smooth, safe running of all sports events including the 2010 Hockey World Cup, IPL 3 and the Commonwealth Games.
The Australian Hockey Team is not turning back but the New Zealand team has decided to delay their coming to India as there will, no doubt, be more assurances before visiting teams and officials are completely satisfied.
