The South African high last night hit a new low after the second day afternoon as the New South Wales Blues (NSW) shamed the Diamond Eagles in the second league match of the Champions League T20.
The CL T20 saw the first one sided affair with NSW bowlers completely annihilating any resistance from the Eagles although one would have to say that the Eagles batsmen played far too many shots to be able to stand their ground and chase down the 145 set by NSW Blues for the first points of Group B.
The NSW Blues captain Simon Katich led from the front and his half century in company with the likes of Moises Henriques (who also featured for the Kolkata Knight Riders – KKR) took NSW to a reasonable total, but nowhere insurmountable.
In reply only two Diamond Eagles batsmen, two McLarens, Adrian McLaren and Ryan McLaren who made forty runs in Eagles’ 91 for nine at the end of their innings made double digit figures, highlights their woes since the run out of the first wicket of Rilee Roussouw. Three wickets for Stuart Clark, two for Henriques and one for the miserly Brett Lee capped up a perfect bowling spell for the Australian Twenty20 champions.
