The Indian captain’s deal with Rhiti Sports Management and Mindscapes is worth Rs.200 for a period of two years, the same time span for which Sachin Tendulkar received a deal of Rs.180 crores previously.
While some would see this as the emergence of Dhoni yet again from the shadows of the batting maestro’s ability to earn endorsements, there is no contest between the money and popularity because both men enjoy sufficient strongholds without having to eat into another.
The deal will ensure that all his endorsements, digital rights, social networking associations and brand recalls. The deal is estimated to be about $42 million as compared to Tendulkar’s $38 million, even as Dhoni already lends the trend with over 22 brand endorsements to his name presently. Forbes has already pegged him as receiving 8 of his $10 million purely via endorsement deals in the last year, making him the highest earning cricketer in the world.
All in the span of a week, Dhoni has got married and brought home a cheque to last a lifetime, not being known to splurge, except perhaps on bikes.
