Allan Donald, aka White Lightning, is coming up with some observations. And they are not looking good for South Africa.
The former South African fast bowler, also having aided England as bowling coach, is throwing light on what he believes are concerns in the South African dressing room. One can wonder how South Africa will react to one of their favourite sons reading too much into the game so openly prior to England taking on South Africa in the ODI and Test series.
Donald believes Mickey Arthur, the South African coach, and Graeme Smith, the South African captain, are not exuding confidence ahead of the series and he thinks the problem has to do with the bowling department.
Donald thinks South Africa’s big talk is really a cover up for the worry facing them that Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and their ilk have less to offer than England’s currently picked bowlers which include James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Graham Onions amongst others.
Criticizing the bowling attack for lack of variety, Donald believes the England bowlers bring more to the field in terms of action and rhythm, and that England have the ability to take twenty wickets in a Test match and that the same confidence is not shared by Arthur in the dressing room of the South African boys.
Does Mickey Arthur want to respond to that? More importantly, does the South African team want to prove AD wrong?
