England will not reveal the cards they hold close to their chest, especially Steven Finn if they can help it, against Australia as the ECB has made it clear Finn will play not part in the NatWest Series against Australia and Bangladesh.
England are in no hurry to show Australia what they have. It means that the six foot eight inch Steven Finn, who has impressed all with his bowling against Bangladesh during the two Test series, will not be included in the England squad for the Natwest Series, the ODI tournament that also involves Australia.
Geoff Miller, England’s chief selector, made it clear there was more work to be done on Finn, “Steven Finn has had an impressive start to the summer and will now undertake a strengthening programme similar to that recently undertaken by Stuart Broad. This will also rule Steven out of the NatWest Series against Australia and Bangladesh before his preparation for the npower Test series against Pakistan.”
