Watson and Hussey fire was too much for the defending champions who were forced to bite the bullet at the Beausejour Stadium in St. Lucia.

Shane Watson and David Hussey combined to destroy the egos of the Pakistan team. While Watson showed his repertoire at the top of the order with a forty-nine ball eighty-one run innings, David Hussey helped accelerate the infliction of damage with a half century of his own off just twenty-nine balls.
Faced with the prospect of chasing 192, despite the five wicket maiden Mohammed Aamer and Pakistan managed to pull off, Pakistan struggled to get going, three wickets going down quickly for thirty-four runs.
Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi and Misbah ul Haq did attempt a brave consolidation cum surge. While Misbah made forty-one runs from thirty-one balls, Afridi's twenty-four ball thirty-three threatened to change the tide.
But Dirk Nannes stood out for his three wickets but the others were not far behind. Shaun Tait contributed three as well with Mitchell Johnson chipping with two to leave Pakistan with little by way of ammunition to chase this one down, losing the match by thirty-four runs. Incidentally, both teams were bowled out in the course of the match.
