Sachin Tendulkar was threatening glory again. But it was a few young ones who stopped the Mumbai Indians' fall while the Deccan Chargers have no idea how to catch their before it is too late.

The Brabourne Stadium crowds may have turned up to watch the little genius in full flow, but thirty-five runs were all they were going to get off his bat. Instead, they were treated to a resurrection of the Mumbai Indians campaign after they suffered a wobble.
Saurabh Tiwary has been in good vein but it was Ambati Rayudu, who was earlier associated with the Hyderabad Heroes in the ICL, that came to the party to prove his mettle with the bat. Tiwary's forty-four runs and Ambati's fifty-five runs from twenty-nine balls did not have the magic of the Murali Vijay and Albie Morkel magic earlier. But from the MI's perspective, it was an imperative innings to keep the team rolling, perhaps already in to the IPL 3 semi finals.
What their partnership also did was negate the effect when a spinner like Pragyan Ojha strikes three times in the innings. That Mumbai Indians reached a total of 178 without Tendulkar's blaze or Kieron Pollard's mayhem (although he did contribute twenty-one runs off ten balls) was a significant morale booster for a team that would like to put a check mark on the aspects of their team strengths going into the business half of the tournament as virtual invincibles themselves.
The less said the better about the Deccan Chargers. Was the chase ever really on? Their three big foreign aces - Adam Gilchrist, Herschelle Gibbs and Andrew Symonds - made double digits but proved duds on the night. V.V.S. Laxman was the victim, and yet unsympathetically so, as he was run out in a mix up with Gilchrist and his runner situation.
More double digits scored followed by the MI bowlers appeared to have decided between themselves to keep the spoils, as Zaheer Khan provided the early breakthroughs, then Kieron Pollard dug in for a couple of his own and Harbhajan Singh closed out the match in style with Ryan McLaren chipping in his contribution as well.
