Abdul Qadir Alleges Bookie Elements Within Team

Abdul Qadir, the former Pakistan chief selector, has been threatening to bowl the alleged lid off the cover. Now he is taking the issue of suspicious elements one step further by alleging that there cannot be smoke without fire.

Qadir, who resigned as chief selector during the ICC World Twenty20, believes that there could be Pakistan cricketers within the team who could be colluding with bookies.

Qadir raised suspicions after it was reported that the Pakistan cricketers felt surrounded by people believed to be bookies in their hotel. Fuelling the theory, Qadir felt that the fact that Pakistan were unable to get their act together in all departments of the game in Sri Lanka especially after they performed exceptionally well in the ICC World Twenty20 in England pointed to the notion that there could be more than meets the eye.
