The IPL’s second edition is yet to get underway. But the rumblings have already begun.

The biggest has to be that of V.V.S. Laxman’s sacking. Injured and impeded for much of IPL’s inaugural season, Laxman has found few sympathizers within his own corners as the baton was handed to Adam Gilchrist rather unceremoniously.
It is hard to believe that Shahid Afridi’s words alone had an impact of the franchisee bosses. Nevertheless the speculation has been so fast and furious that the swashbuckling batsman from Pakistan has had to openly deny he had anything to do with Laxman’s misfortunes.
Afridi claims he had nothing to do with the wristy batsman’s demotion from captain of the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers even as he was informed of the change of guard as well as the matters intervening it. Afridi’s comments were considered valid and ironically, audacious as well given that Afridi himself has not had a good run with his own form and it could pose interesting question marks when the trading window opens next year.
