Not sure if the Sania Mirza-Shoaib Mallik marriage proposals began with those noble intentions but Pakistan's Twenty20 captain thinks it may well serve the purpose.

Shahid Afridi, Pakistan's Twenty20 captain, believes that the union could be a step in the right direction as far as Indo-Pak relations go. He feels that the marriage will be an indication that not everything between India and Pakistan need be strained.
Speaking to a news channel in India, Afridi stated that he was unaware of what was brewing but he hoped this would help thaw the ice between the two countries.
The Pakistan cricketers have missed out on the IPL for a second year in a row, in 2009 because of the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai and the IPL 3 season over the row over the IPL 3 auction.
Will Shoaib Mallik, who was recently slapped with the one year ban for being a disruptive force in the dressing room, be the unifying factor between the two countries? Far fetched, perhaps.
