Amidst reactions from former Australian cricketers such as Jeff Thomson as slamming Ricky Ponting's rest as a way of abandoning the team, Cricket Australia has decided to give Tim Nielsen some time off.

The Australian captain was grateful for the break even thought it meant that he would miss the two Twenty20 International matches against England as well as the early part of the ODI series.
Now Cricket Australia has decided to give the coach a breather as well, allowing him to leave the coaching to the assistant coach and bowling consultant, Troy Cooley, in the latter half of the same ODI series.
John Buchanan had only earlier asked for a review of the Australian structure that led to the Ashes defeat.
