Alan Hurst Dubs Kotla Pitch "Unfit" In Report to ICC

Alan Hurst has now the dubious reputation of being present at two matches that were abandoned due to unfit pitches and he is forthright in his report to the ICC as the match referee.

Hurst was also the match referee for the second Test between England and the West Indies that was abandoned within ten balls at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

While the match was delayed by two days and played at the Antigua recreation ground, there were no match replays in the fifth ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Hurst is said to have rendered a terse comment on the nature of the pitch provided and it is not in a lenient light. By dubbing the pitch as "unfit" against "poor", the Kotla could well incur an 18-24 month ban against a fine which could rule the venue out for the 2011 ICC World Cup.
