Andy Flower guided Essex towards five-wicket victory over Gloucestershire in the C&G trophy at Chelmsford. With this defeat, the five-time champions Gloucestershire was out of the contender's list.

Essex was tottering losing five wickets at 155 while chasing 218 runs of the visitors. Mark Hardinges who scored 43 runs claimed three wickets. However, Andy Flower spilled all the hopes of Gloucestershire when he struck an unbeaten 71 runs from 92 balls. He shared a valuable 63 partnership with James Foster who also remained not out on 31.
Andy Flower who took retirement from Zimbabwean Cricket is now playing county cricket joining with Essex. The high profile wicketkeeper batsman played 63 test matches and 213 ODIs for Zimbabwe. He scored 4,794 runs averaging 51.54 in test and 6,786 runs in ODIs.
