This must have been an afterthought because the IPL 4 auctions are just around the corner and Anil Kumble has had a change of heart.

The former Indian captain and leg spinner has suddenly decided he has had enough of playing cricket on the field. In a late announcement, Kumble has stated he is withdrawing from the IPL 4 player auctions scheduled for this weekend.
Although Kumble has merely cited business commitments as the reason, it is strongly believed that the decision was prompted by conflicting interests now that he has won the Karnataka State Cricket Association elections and will be actively involved in that role.
Kumble's absence is a huge loss although one would not have expected a spinner to play a significant role. It is credit then to Kumble that he has made a remarkable impression once the Royal Challengers Bangalore captaincy was handed to him as he led the Vijay Mallya owned team to the semi final and third spot of the IPL 2 and IPL 3 seasons respectively.
Kumble not only defied age but the idea that the Twenty20 format was a young man's sport by leading as an exemplary captain as well as emphasizing the role that spinners can play to astonishing results, while also lending a more stable look to a team that looked all at sea during the first season.
