Ashes at Lord's: Warne Resumes his Battle with Bopara

Shane Warne has once again ignited war of Ravi Bopara as he appears to be relishing his stint in the commentary box.

The former Australian leg spinner and current captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, Warne took the mic in the commentary box on the first day of the second Test at Lord’s and used the post tea session to once again air what has now become his popular tirade against the England batsman.

Bopara filled in for an out of form Ian Bell rather well with a century against the West Indies. However, Bopara has failed to convince Warne of his credentials.

Warne stated once more while commentating with former England captains, Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain, that while he believed Bopara had talent (putting it more courteously), but that he felt Bopara would be tested at the top class level against world class bowlers.

When prodded to vent what his issues with Bopara were when playing domestic England county cricket, Warne simply stated that Bopara would sometimes get stuck technically and once the bowler had the measure of him, it was hard to convince Bopara to change his mind set. Bopara thought too much of himself at the crease, that is the line Warne continues to tow.

Bopara has, in the past, refused to be drawn into a battle of words with Warne. On this occasion, he was sitting in the balcony of Lord’s with his England team mates, smiling and laughing, blissfully unaware of the relish with which Warne was once again digging into him.
