The session after tea held a dramatic session for England and a rather less dramatic one for Australia.

Jonathan Trott made the evening session come alive by reaching the prestigious three figure mark, making his Test century on debut. Graeme Swann added his own touch with a fine half century and after much speculation, England declared on 373 for nine.
Set with the arduous task of seeing off twenty overs, the Australian openers did a good job to take Australia to eighty for no loss at stumps on day three of the fifth Test of the Ashes at the Oval.
But it was not without drama. Shane Watson survived as many as a couple of great run out opportunities as England failed to connect the ball with the bails on both occasions, the second more pronounced than the first. But the most important thing is that Australia survived in the chase of 545, with Simon Katich and Watson leading the way with forty-two and thirty-one runs respectively.
