Even as New Zealand have additional motivation to bring succour to those strife torn by the Christchurch earthquake, the New Zealand v Australia ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 match will have the additional weigh of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy as part of the Trans Tasman rivalry.

The New Zealand cricket team has been a frantic lot following the earthquake that hit Christchurch and while their immediate families are believed to be safe, the extent of devastation and destruction is only being grasped now, which has left the team feeling the need to put things in perspective.
If New Zealand needed additional motivation to lift their game, it is perhaps in lifting the spirits of their fellow countrymen. And while it is hard to imagine a game of cricket in the time of such devastation, perhaps through the match, the teams will be able to generate awareness of the situation as well as much need relief work and funds that could go a long way.
And if New Zealand need an opponent that makes them want to get the better, they do not come any closer than Australia. Both teams have recorded relatively easy victories against their lower ranked opponents and they both have a point or two to prove given their present predicaments in their respective camps.
The Trans Tasman rivalry is relived through the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy and the 2010-'11 edition will now be played in this match which will be treated as a one off which is incredible in itself and an added incentive to an already smouldering contest. Incidentally both, Daniel Vettori, and Ricky Ponting, will face each other as respective captains for arguably the last time, at least in ODIs and that only adds to the pressure of the situation which should make this match a humdinger of a contest, if New Zealand have leave their recent results behind and focus on this match alone.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will see one historic rivalry already heating up!
