Australian cricket team is riding on a silver cloud. They just showed the world that cricket is played by many, but only the team with passion and dedication emerges the winner.

The Aussie team displayed an all-round performance in the Cricket World Cup 2007 and dominated the event without the slightest of doubts.

Aussie cricket team is riding on a hattrick, and captain Ricky Ponting has made the intentions of his team very clear. Ponting is confident that despite the retirement of some of the key players, Australia will continue to dominate international cricket.

Shane Warne and Justin Langer retired after the superb Ashes victory, and this World Cup final saw the last from stalwart bowler Glen McGrath, as he announced his retirement from the game.

But Ponting believes that changes in the team will not affect the team’s performance, as new faces and talents will prove themselves and carve themselves into match winners. Ponting says,

I fully expect us to win every game we play, it doesn’t matter what the make-up of the team is. When we get some younger guys in the Test and one-day side in the next few months I still expect us to win.

Ofcourse, Shaun Tait’s example is more than enough to prove Ponting’s point. Tait, a late replacement in the team, claimed 23 wickets in this World Cup and solidified his position in the Australian team.

And to give more strength to Ponting’s belief, the dreaded-duo, Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden, have made it clear that they are not going anywhere.

Both the war-horses have emerged the strongest of all players in the recent World Cup, with Hayden being the top-scorer with his 659 runs and Gilchrist claiming the record of the highest-ever score in a World Cup with a brilliant 149 knock in the finals against Sri Lanka.

Australian cricket can be defined in three simple words- play, win and rule.
