The Australian cricketers are in a bit of a quandary. They want to be part of the Twenty20 extravaganza in South Africa but have international commitments.

Cricket Australia is in revamp mode. They have introduced a radical new version of the fifty over game in their domestic cricket against the wishes of a majority of the Australian cricketers and they are now opening the doors of the domestic Twenty20 tournament, Big Bash League, but leaving out the Australian cricketers.
The Australians are scheduled to play England in January 2011 and India in 2012 and are unhappy, not by the quality of their opponents, but by the fact that their schedule will not give them an opportunity to play in the Twenty20 tournament. The Australian cricketers are miffed that while foreign cricketers will be invited, in a model loosely based on the IPL, they themselves will be tied up in one day cricket commitments.
The Australian cricketers are falling for the trend of Twenty20 appeal. Although many of them rejected the IPL offer in lieu of commitments for their home country, including Test cricket, it appears when it comes to tournaments within their own country, they are less likely to want to give it a miss. The Australian cricketers are now imploring CA to reduce the number of one day contests so they can be a part of the extravaganza as well.
