Cricket today demands greater physical effort from players at vital stages, during their careers. Injuries, are a common occurrence among national and international cricket players, with the most common cricket injuries being sprains, fractures and bruising.

Michael Vandort will replace Sri Lankan opener Upul Tharanga (left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper) for upcoming tests against Bangladesh, following a foot injury in the nets.

Upul, has been a prominent player to be watched out in the Cricket World Cup, 2007. Moreover the absence of senior players, Marvan Atapattu and Sanath Jayasuriya has posed the Sri -Lankan’s in a spot of bother.

Bangladesh aim to improve their Test performance in the series against Sri Lanka which gets underway. Bangladesh have just a solitary win in 46 Tests since, becoming a Test-playing nation, in 2000. Bangladesh is committed to improve the performance in the Tests after a recent good showing in the one-day matches, thus, cannot be considered as puny.

However, the past and recent record of the Lankan’s in the presence of star batsmen like Jayawardene, Muralitharan,Vaas, Sangakkara the current squad is not to be underestimated. Performance and combating hard has been their motto which has led to their emergence as, dark-horses.

Hosts, Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh for both Test and ODI series. The playoffs will provide the Bangladesh team a great opportunity to get familiar with the Sri Lankan conditions, as well.
