BCCI Differs on ICC Agreement

--> -->

India's contention for hosting the ICC 2011 Cricket world Cup could find itself in jeopardy... BCCI has refused to sign a new contract with the International Cricket Council... It has rejected the ICC's Members' Participation Agreement (MPA) for the 2008-2015 period, which would cover all the One Day International matches.

If India wants to remain a host for the most prestigious cricket tournament then BCCI will have to agree to the terms of the agreement...Though BCCI wants amendments in the MPA and will not sign it in it present form... BCCI's Treasurer, N. Srinivasan believes that the MPA in its existing form affects the BCCI's interests, as there are several issues, including marketing, involved with the MPA.

The MPA is a document, which lays down rules and limitations that the players must follow in all ICC events...When all the other member nations are agreeing to the terms, then BCCI being the richest cricket board should have no problems with it... BCCI has sent a copy of the MPA to Rahul Dravid and will make its decision only after a confirmation is received from him.
