Central Districts coach Dermot Reeve claims that Bopara, who scored a century before taking the ball for Auckland against the Central Districts, had tampered with the ball, a claim that the Auckland coach, Zimbabwean Paul Strang, firmly denies.
But Reeve is taking the issue to heart by claiming to the New Zealand media, "I would take an oath and swear on my children's lives, that I saw Ravi Bopara using his nails on the ball to help it swing."
Jamie How, the CD captain, however, claims to have no knowledge about the incident and did not find anything out of the ordinary when facing Auckland.
