Another injury is claiming Brett Lee's hunger for the game. Brett Lee himself appears to be contemplating life without cricket, but not as one would imagine.

Life has indeed been a rollercoaster for the fast bowler from Australia. The tearaway man has had to tear himself away from personal problems, problems with form and problems of competition from his peers. All the while, he has also been dealing with injuries.
Lee looked ready and raring against India till a side strain took its toll in the first ODI of the India Australia ODI series itself. Now it appears there is the matter of the sore elbow and it is more sore than originally imagined. Lee will now have to decide on the surgery and options with the doctors which could rule him out for even three months, leaving his cricket career in the docks.
Post split and divorce from Liz Kemp, Lee was not himself and despite opting out of the home series against Bangladesh last year, made it to India for the Border Gavaskar Trophy but only highlighted his woes with on field tiffs with the Australian captain, Ricky Ponting.
Injury again ruled him out of the series against South Africa, giving Mitchell Johnson the onus of the spearhead and the likes of Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus a chance to stamp their authority on the game.
The name was injury again as Lee found himself sidelined for the Ashes Test in England before he returned empty handed from the ODI tour of India. Now with the Test series looming against the West Indies at home, the injury has not given him the chance to show his mettle although he looked rather well in the Champions League Twenty20.
However, Lee is reluctant to put the word retirement yet. He is weighing his options and also, contemplating whether the enthusiasm still in him to play the game can sustain long periods away from home when his son Preston will miss his father's presence.
It does not get easy for Lee because even at age thirty-three, he holds an unbounded enthusiasm and spirit and it is most unfortunate that injury may well write his epitaph. However, Lee is not worried about being written off, stating that it had been done so in the past only to have it been proved wrong.
