Cairns Threatens to Sue IPL Over Dropping His Name From IPL List

Chris Cairns is contemplating suing the IPL and Lalit Modi for defamation after his name was dropped from the initial list of the players for the IPL 3 auction.

The former New Zealand all rounder is apparently annoyed at reports of his alleged link up with a shrouded match fixing scandal within the Indian Cricket League, (although it was the ICL officials themselves who hinted at his name) and is more upset that the IPL Commissioner and Chairman has openly stated it as the reason for dropping his name from the list.

Cairns, through his lawyers, has expressed his anguish at the attempt to malign his name and there could be more to this saga in time to come.

The question on top of the mind is: why did not Cairns protest similarly when his name was associated with such a serious allegation while the ICL was still going on?
