Can Undercover Agents Posing as Illegal Bookies Stop Match Fixing? ICC Thinks So

--> -->

The ICC believes they have come up with a radical plan to tackle corruption and match fixing in the sport. But is not the method controversial, not to mention dubious?

The ICC believe they are being proactive in tackling the issue of fixing, bet it match fixing or spot fixing, by putting their own undercover agents to act as illegal bookmakers in order to not only trap errant cricketers but also, haul up those who do not report the approaches.

The move itself is controversial because how will the ICC sneak in these undercover agents when they would have the world believe that the dressing room is a no go zone for outsiders? Secondly who is to say that these agents themselves are above board, and not susceptible to actually colluding with the players and bookies themselves? The third major question is how can the ICC deem any player who does not report an approach as being guilty of aiding corruption when the recent episode surrounding spot fixing involving the Pakistan cricketers has shown amply that there is more than money at play which is why some cricketers have been coerced into staying mum?
