Andrew Strauss believes his team will not the excuse of the Ashes to fall back on for not doing well in the World Cup. While England have won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20, and backed up by winning the ODI series against Australia, he does not think that the emphasis on winning the Ashes in Australia, not having done so since the 1986-'87 season, cannot be an excuse.

He cited the example of Australia who managed to win World Cups that followed the Ashes campaigns, albeit at home.
