The IPL Governing Council have set a new format rolling for the CL T20 2010 when the ten teams are now divided into two groups of five teams each.

The format will open up directly into the semi final when the top two teams from the respective two groups will meet in the semi final before deciding upon the finalists. It eliminates the Super Eights as invented through four games of three teams as was the case last year when the New South Wales Blues from Australia won home the trophy.

The edition takes off with the Mumbai Indians facing the Lions from South Africa on the 10th of September.
