The IPL 4 schedule has only been tentatively announced and it appears Chennai has manage to pip Mumbai as the favourite hosts for the crucial opening and closing final matches.

The Chennai Super Kings' success may have had something to do with the fact that Chennai will host the IPL 4 2011 opening ceremony and match as well as the IPL 4 final as well as the closing ceremony.

The M.A. Chidambaram Stadium will also play host to two of the four play off matches, leaving the other two to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which missed hosting matches in the IPL 3 season due to the stadium renovation for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

While these venues appear to be locked in, the schedule is far from complete for the seventy-four matches which could see a few changes depending on how the schedule clashes with the state assembly elections. However, it is not expected to create the kind of problems that necessitated the shifting of the IPL 2 season to South Africa.

With the IPL 4 already drawing much attention, it appears that the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 could well suffer from a little bit of divided attention.
