Chris Cairns wanted to be one of the transition men. But he is set to go down in a burst of flames and his cricket career in a whimper.

Cairns was pushing the barriers at age thirty-nine. His name in the IPL 3 auction list certainly raised eyebrows. As stated yesterday, his stint with the Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) stood suspended after it emerged that there was more than mere injury than had Cairns under the scanner.
That very cloud of match fixing is hanging heavily over his head and what appeared an initial miss has been perhaps rectified by the IPL governing council, or so informs the IPL Chairman and Commissioner, Lalit Modi, who announced the New Zealand all rounder's name has been struck off the roll.
