Chris Gayle may have raised a storm upon his return to the IPL with a century in the IPL 4 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but he has already kicked up one in retaliation to the accusation by the West Indies Cricket Board.

The West Indies Cricket Board had no qualms in revealing that the NOC ( NO Objection Certificate ) that they had issued to Chris Gayle upon the latter receiving a late offer from the Royal Challengers Bangalore was not a happy decision.
Moreover, the implication by the WICB was that Gayle had shown more interest in making his time available for the RCB team and the IPL 4 rather than West Indies' home assignments against Pakistan but that they would not want to end up blocking his way.
However, Chris Gayle negated the accusations of the WICB stated that he was forced to take up the IPL offer - he was initially not considered by any of the IPL franchisees for the IPL 4 season at the IPL 4 auctions - when he felt he was left out in the cold by the board and the selectors.
Gayle implied that the isolation had forced him to look elsewhere because he was not given an indication that his presence would be valued in the West Indies cricket team led by Darren Sammy. He stated that he was not asked to present himself with the rest of the team for the conditioning camp in Barbados and his non selection thereafter in the initial team announcement left him in two minds about his future role for West Indies cricket.
The battle between the WICB and Chris Gayle has been an on-again off-again relationship with the latter refusing to sign a central contract, much like Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, that would then bind them to national duties for the West Indies. It was perhaps the culmination of that decision as well as the West Indies selectors decided to experiment with future options, with Gayle following up as a back up recall. Gayle was certainly not settling for that.
Gayle is now accusing the WICB of coercing him into announcing that he was ineligible for the West Indies Pakistan series by not being given a clear direction as to his future and in order to ensure that he could continue to play lucrative cricket in the form of the IPL.
