The New Zealand team, the Cental Districts Stags, was once again left to lick their wounds. The Australian team, the Victoria Bushrangers, will feel relieved and elated because the day had see sawed into a drama in match seven of the Champions League Twenty20 in Centurion, South Africa.

Two wickets down with just three runs on board and then, reduced further to three down for thirty was not how the Stags planned to make a comeback in the tournament that had seen them go down tamely to the Chennai Super Kings. But they knew it was not going to be easy against the Bushrangers. What they had going for them though was their captain, Jamie How, who ressurected the Stags like the Phoenix from the Ashes to the extent that the Bushrangers had to tough it out before they could come out victorious.
Seventy-seven runs came off the bat of How, including three sixes in a dramatic turnaround that brought the Stags back into contention after Peter Siddle rocked them early with two wickets.
Chasing a 166, the Bushrangers appeared steady under Aaron Finch even as the run rate kept steadily ticking over. What went against the Stags was the fact that they dropped a couple of chances and their fielding did not have quite the standard they would have normally set for themselves. However, they had done enough to cause the Bushrangers some serious concern.
Needing thirty-six from eighteen balls, the Bushrangers had the hard work ahead of them if they were going to stop the Stags from gatecrashing the party. But with Finch going strong and wickets still in hand, the Bushrangers needed to hold thier end of the bargain. With unintentional help from the Stags, the Bushrangers were able to convert deliveries into magnificent boundaries and eat away at the run rate. Needing twenty-five from two overs and twelve from the last over, Doug Bracewell was the one having to brace himself as Finch, unbeaten on ninety-three runs from only sixty balls, hammered two sixes and a four to take Bushrangers to the the Champions League Twenty20 points table.
