The Diamond Eagles needed to win heavily to have a chance to qualify for the Super Eights. Instead, what they got was a whirlwind by the name of Adrian Barath.

If it is not Kieron Pollard, it has to be Barath. So it seemed on the night when the South African Twenty20 team needed some help from the red hot Trinidad and Tobago team that is enjoying a dream run in the Champions League Twenty20.
The CL T20 Super Eights match between Eagles and the T and T team turned into a predictable affair as Barath took the attack to the opposition as did his team mates to put past heroes, CJ de Villiers and company to shame.
While William Perkins made a twenty-five ball thirty-five, Barath took the match away from the Eagles with a forty-one ball sixty-three run innings with Lendl Simmons lending a helping hand with twenty-five ball forty runs.
With a target of 213 and to achieve that in fewer than twenty overs was considered a task too onerous but the Eagles did try to match that. Rilee Rossouw kept the Eagles fans interested with forty-four pulsating runs in just nineteen balls. Dillon du Preez and captain Boeta Dippenaar made thirty-five and thirty-three runs in another crucial partnership but the Eagles could only manage 189, a good total on any day but not on this!
