It was a game that would not affect the fate of either team in the Super Eights of the Champions League Twenty20. Yet, the treachery of the pitch made one captain humble despite his bold decision with the toss.

Andrew Puttick, captain of the Cape Cobras, did not expect to be saying that he had made a mistake in opting to bowl first on a pitch that has proved difficult as the day wore on. At half time, it did look like the Cobras to get one over the Delhi Daredevils and thereby, finish on top in their league.
Delhi did not have much coming their way apart from England's Owais Shah's thirty-nine run unbeaten knock and Dinesh Kartik's twenty-three runs as Delhi managed to notch up just 114.
But the Cobras suffered worse with just Henry Davids made just twenty-two to top score in an innings that disintegrated into dismay for the South African Twenty20 champions. In a match where Virender Sehwag as rested and Glen McGrath once again benched, Delhi rode on Dirk Nannes' three wickets and all round performance from the rest of the bowlers to humble the team by thirty runs that had already booked its spot in the semi finals.
