Herschelle Gibbs did come to the party as expected. But against a speed train like Trinidad and Tobago, nothing could stand in the way.

Hyderabad saw T and T post themselves into the final of the Champions League Twenty20 against the New South Wales Blues. On en route, they managed to shunt out the challenge from the South Africa Cape Cobras.
Gibbs was expected to rise to the occasion and he did, with a twenty-seven ball forty-two runs that sparked off the match for the Cobras. But every time the Cobras tried to run past the team from the West Indies, they were met with the fall of wickets that threatened to derail their train.
The frustration in the Cape Cobras dug out soon became apparent with every wicket that fell to eat up more and more of their momentum. Through it all, JP Duminy stood out for his extraordinary temperament amidst the hurried chaos and his sixty-one runs from forty balls was the innings that kept the Cobras together, Rory Kleinveldt's two sixes pushing Cobras towards a competitive total.
But Ravi Rampaul bowled a gem of an over in the final over, conceding just two runs as Cobras finished on 175.
For the Cape Cobras to stop the storming T and T, they needed to pick wickets early and not let them get off to a good start.
At eighty-five for three in the eleventh over, the Cobras would have still thought they had a chance. But by them Adrian Barath, William Perkins and Lendl Simmons had all got good starts and it was left to the likes of (no, not Kieron Pollard although he was all over the field in the Cobras innings) to captain Darren Ganga and Dwayne Bravo to bring them a step closer to the crown.
Ganga's forty-four runs from thirty-one balls and Bravo's dominant innings that took away the game that came from just thirty-four balls for his fifty-eight meant that once again T and T had proved themselves a dominant force going into the final.
