The news did not come as much of a surprise though it may have shattered Cameron White's hopes.

Cameron White is presently captain of the Victoria Bushrangers who beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore for their first points in the Super Eights stage of the Champions League Twenty20 in India. However, he would not have liked the developments back home.
The return though could not be better for Michael Clarke. Clarke has been in the news more for his photo ad featuring his fiancee Lara Bingle with him for a drink commercial. He missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa with a sore back.
Cricket Australia announced Michael Clarke as Ricky Ponting's successor to the Australia's Twenty20 captaincy. Reciprocating the gesture, Clarke released a statement to the effect, ""I'm really excited to lead Australia in the newest form of the game. We've got a young and enthusiastic group but we must recognize that we've got a lot of work to do in Twenty20 cricket and our recent form hasn't been good. Naturally, we'll target the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean next year and I feel we have plenty of talent to genuinely mount a challenge in that tournament."
The news comes on the heels of Ponting's decision to quit Australia's Twenty20 even though he is still contracted to the Shah Rukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, following the aftermath of the Ashes defeat in England.
