Clarke says, Count Me in; Not So, says Broad

Michael Clarke has apparently got the nod ahead from his fiancée for the IPL. But Stuart Broad would rather rest it out ahead of the all important Ashes.

Australian vice captain Michael Clarke chose not to be a part of the inaugural IPL because of a father who was seriously ill. When probed about his possibility of featuring in this year’s IPL edition, Clarke had said he would have to consult his family and fiancée Lara Bingle before making the decision. It now appears his decision to join the IPL has met with approval from his kith and kin as he throws his name into the hat alongside other high profile names such as Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff who are expected to be big draws at the auction of the 6th of February. His bids will start at one million dollars, a whopping amount given that the highest paid foreigner is none other than Andrew Symonds at 1.35 million dollars.

But England’s leading fast bowler over the last twelve months Stuart Broad has decided to give the IPL a skip, given that England have a long road ahead including the Ashes and rather than risk injury, he would prefer taking the opportunity to use the time for some rare time spent on rest. Guess, some things cannot be bought and sold!
