The ongoing controversy over pesticides in Pepsi and Coca-Cola will not hit the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy Cricket tournament to be held in India. The soft drinks companies said this following the Kerala government’s decision to ban the manufacturing of Pepsi and Cola in the state.

Players would be served Pepsi and Coca-Cola in the stadium, sources close to the cola firms explained. The sources also asserted that the cola firms had not received any order from the Kerala government to stop manufacturing in the state. They are now seeking government permission to air the Pepsi’s co-sponsorship in the tournament.

The Cola companies have come down heavily on the media reports that say Pepsi and Coke being banned in the states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The two companies asserted these state governments have not banned, but issued advisories to government schools and offices.

As per the ICC schedule, ICC Champions trophy would be held in October. Off 20 matches of the trophy, Jaipur would host six matches and five in Ahmedabad.
