More changes are in order as Australia contemplates going the way of South Africa and England in changing their domestic tournament from fifty over matches to forty over matches, but with a twist.

Cricket Australia believes that their research of the crowds in Australia suggests that the one day game is in need of a serious revamp, considering that their domestic Twenty20 tournament, Twenty20 Big Bash, has been able to attract more crowds than the ODIs, as they claim. CA also believes that the one day game may totally lose out on aficionados if it continues its pattern going into the 2015 ICC World Cup.

CA is planning to formulate a match that involves four innings of twenty or twenty-five overs, and while it will attract comments that it is just Twenty20 repackaged, the idea would be to let the wickets remaining carry over into the second innings.

The idea though is still at formulation stage and may, if approved, come into effect next season.
