India are not the only one searching for a coach for their future assignments. Cricket South Africa has already begun in earnest to look for Corrie van Zyl's replacement.

The concerns within South Africa will be perceptibly more than those within the Indian cricket administration given that South Africa once again fell short of expectations in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and have stagnated in their Test results as well.

Corrie van Zyl was only an interim coach when Mickey Arthur stepped down under surprising circumstances and it was always clear that South Africa would have a new coach for assignments beyond the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

With Gary Kirsten expressing reservations about continuing with the Indian cricket team due to family concerns back home, Cricket South Africa have been on his tail. And it would seem that now that the Indian coach has served his time, he will be part of the coach selection candidates even though Kirsten has not formally applied to the post, the deadline for which was extended deliberately apparently keeping him in mind. But given Kirsten's high profile in light of India becoming the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 as well as the reigning no.1 Test team, Kirsten becomes an automatic choice.

But South Africa have other options and some of the names being mentioned include Richard Pybus, who coached Pakistan briefly, Tom Moody, who was the Sri Lankan coach, as well as Kenneth Jennings and Dave Nosworthy who are locally well known.

Another big name in the candidate list is the former England coach and former Zimbabwe captain, Duncan Fletcher. Fletcher is as high profile as they come, given that Fletcher was the coach when England won the Ashes back in 2005 and has been a consultant for the South African cricket team when Arthur was the coach.

Given Fletcher's familiarity with the team, he will naturally be one of the strongest contenders to the post of the South African coach. The deciding factor though in the interview will be the coach's vision on turning around South Africa's problems when it comes to overcoming hurdles on the threshold of touching the pinnacle of the sport.
