Crowd v Police Must be the Popularity of Cricket That the ICC was Talking About

It must be heartening for the ICC to witness these scenes practically everywhere cricket goes in the Indian sub continent because it then serves to establish their reasoning with regards to cricket and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Yet another incident where the cricket lovers clashed with cops over cricket match tickets for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 quarterfinals between India and Australia was reported from Ahmedabad.

Similar scenes were witnessed before and and in the duration of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 thus far. The ICC asked the ICC President Sharad Pawar to tackle the matter internally. But the ICC chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, made comments that landed him in hot soup over describing the scenes as proof of the popularity of the one day cricket in particular.

However, it would appear that not enough measures are being taken to ensure that this is only a one off incident. Instead the repeat of these incidents only highlight the inefficiency in the matter of issuing tickets, a matter that has been rather controversial, particularly in Bengaluru where the number of tickets released to the public have been few and far between.

The ICC had also previously written to Pawar explicitly detailing the anguish of the sponsors over the ticket issues and the liability on the tournament as a direct result of these issues. However, it seems that the fans who have driven the game to such a frenzy must also cope with this inconvenience.
