CT Ind V Aus Preview: Dhoni Resigned to Losing Toss

Team India have made a few changes to their final playing eleven in the must win Group A match against Australia even as Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost the toss to Ricky Ponting.

The Indian captain looked and sounded quite disappointed to lose the toss as he was perhaps hoping to put the runs on board and then, put pressure on the Australians. The Indian bowling has not looked particularly excited and therefore, perhaps it is a reflection on that mindset because India need to win this match in order to stay alive after losing their match against Pakistan.

India have decided to bring in Amit Mishra and Praveen Kumar, a move that is perhaps more desperate rather than calculative since the regulars have not worked up til now. While India will presently persist with Ishant Sharma, R.P. Singh has had to give way.

Whether it was Yousuf Pathan's lack of presence of mind in the last match against Pakistan or whether they felt they were better off with a genuine spinner rather than a part time bowler, the blustery sits out in favour of the spinner.

While the Australian captain has been gung ho since his team fortunes changed during the NatWest series, his bowlers will need to put in an effort better than they did against the West Indies if they are not to let this Indian batting get away.
