One would not need to elaborate on where West Indies stand in the manner of this competition.

The West Indies, suffice it to say, will not be putting their best foot forward. However, they do have a chance at redemption. Performance on the field will shut the back talk, although it seems unlikely that a team beaten by Bangladesh will be able to make the semi final cut for the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.
Led by Floyd Reifer, the team cannot be expected to make miracles. However, there is nothing like seething hurt to rile a team into doing something positive. Perhaps the humiliation and the added fact that the mainstream West Indies cricketers could automatically qualify themselves again at the end of the industrial dispute should be reason enough for the West Indies team to make a name for themselves and for some of them to make the final cut even.
The ICC has not shown a lot of faith in this team either by leaving the option open for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to bring back the frontline cricketers. Can this team then prove the cricket world wrong?
