Daljit Singh, the head of the now non existent BCCI Pitch Committee, believes the match referee was hasty to pass a verdict on the pitch in New Delhi but he holds himself responsible while stating that the Ferozeshah Kotla can hold a proper cricket match in the 2011 ICC World Cup.

Daljit Singh, who works as a pitch curator, was surprised by Alan Hurst's decision to abandon the match because in his opinion, the pitch was not particularly dangerous but rather proved a challenge to test the mettle of the cricketers.
However, Daljit Singh does take partial responsibility for the fiasco of the fifth ODI of the series between India and Sri Lanka at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. He feels he should have insisted on the bowling session he proposed but did not carry through. He held himself accountable for blindly believing that the pitches from the Champions League held through against the ODI against Australia would also hold up against Sri Lanka.
However, Daljit Singh is confident that New Delhi can host successfully matches in the 2011 ICC World Cup and that the ICC should not take a harsh stand and that there is still time to produce an international quality pitch for those matches.
