Dav Whatmore is once again being focused in news. The Pakistan Cricket authorities have shown keen interest in him following his failure of being a coach of the Indian team.
Dav Whatmore was the front-runner for appointment as Indian Coach until few days ago. He had moreover shown keen interest in coaching the Indian side following the exit of Creg Chappel after India’s disastrous show at the Cricket World Cup 2007.
But later, Whatmore was turned out of the hunt of a new coach by the BCCI and shortlisted South African Graham Ford and England’s John Emburey for the job.
Whatmore as a coach has led to many notable and remarkable victories. He has been the instigator which led to the victory of the Sri Lankan’s in the 1996 World Cup. Being a coach of the Bangladesh side he has made them look good - who were earlier considered as cricketing underdogs.
Following the death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer the PCB has also begun the search of a new coach. The PCB seems lured for Whatmore considering his past records and credentials.
Whatever decision PCB and Whatmore make, the whole scenario has depicted that Whatmore has been a coach of high class, much talked about and is a front runner in the coaching fraternity.
