These days, the Team India dressing room in Ireland resembles a medical ward and every time Rahul Dravid addresses the media, he seems to be reading out from a medical bulletin.
The latest medical update brings mixed news with MS Dhoni and Ajit Agarkar looking fit for the second ODI against South Africa, while S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir all set to miss the match.
Dravid said
Sreesanth is still not well. He’s definitely not well enough to play...Gautam Gambhir has also had a bit of a viral fever so he’s in the hotel.
Ajit Agarkar and Dhoni seem to have recovered but we would have loved to have had them practice today because they’ve not played cricket for a week and to have an idea of exactly how they are feeling.
While Dhoni’s return would definitely bolster the batting order and Agarkar would add fire to the pace attack, missing the spunky Sreesanth and southpaw Gambhir would limit India’s options for the crucial second match.
India desperately need to win the tie to stay afloat in the three-match series. They are already one-down after losing the first one dayer.
Dravid, however, is little relieved after the pace duo of Ishant Sharma and Ranadeb Bose landed here as cover for other ailing speedsters.
Meanwhile, heavy shower denied India an outdoor practice and instead, the Men in Blue spent the time in the gym.
