afro-asia-cup-2007_54The twenty-20 matches is a good scenario in modern day cricket. These limited over matches have promised to be a big entertainer, all over.

It was a comprehensive win for Asia XI in the opening encounter with Africa XI at Banglore. Apart from Loots Bosman of AfricaXI who hit a smashing half century, no other batsman could cement and accelerate the scoring.

The new faces of the African XI showed lack of commitment and inexperience. The team was able to set an achievable target of 109 for eight in twenty overs.

The Asia XI had a good day with both bat and ball. Sreesanth and Mortaza bagged 2 wickets each.

Now it was the turn of Asia XI to show some worth with a bat. However the initial bowling attack of Africa XI within the first seven overs showed some impact. But the experience and quality batting of Asia XI in the latter half put them totally in the drivers seat. Apart from N. Odhiambo who claimed two wickets no other bowler was able to restrict the Asian giants.

It was Dilshan who went on till the end scoring an unbeaten 47 to help Asia XI to a comprehensive win with four overs to spare.

Finally Asia XI made 110-4 in 15.5 overs.

The performance of Asia XI was satisfactory owing to the amount of experience and the star batsmen that played in. On the other hand the new faces of Africa XI gave a good show of fielding and commitment.
