Just recall, South Africa was at once exiled from international cricket 35 years ago because of the apartheid policy, it followed very strictly. Now things have changed dramatically in South African cricket with the selection of black players to the national squad. Really, South African Cricket Board is moving in the direction to end the quota system in SA cricket.



I viewed so in wake of Ashwell Prince’s selection as the first black captain of the Proteas for the upcoming tri-series against India and Sri Lanka.



The former South African cricket director Ali Bacher said,

What his appointment indicates is that we are approaching the end of a period in South African cricket where there was affirmative action and quotas, which was necessary.





Undeniably, Prince’s appointment would be a source of inspiration for black men and women in South Africa.
